Biography

While studying at Tama Art University and apprenticing under Kuniharu Akiyama, SHINJI SHISHIKURA encountered Fluxus(an international avant-garde group of artists founded in Germany).

After graduation, he travelled to various places around the world. He experienced things such as auto racing and volunteer activities. While studying as an overseas student in Italy, he resumed his artistic activities with the theme of the “Evolution of Everyday Art”. His latest activities have involved talking buckets and going all over the world. He has had performances in Asia, Europe, Oceania, United States.

Starting with China in 2008, he plans to have exhibitions and performances in Europe, Japan and in the United States, too. As well as been getting attention from overseas, he has been introduced in a lot of the mass media.

He has had countless private and group exhibitions. He appeared and performed in the 1st International Triennale Of Contemporary Art in YOKOHAMA 2001 , 2002 FIFA World Cup Commemorative Events, Embassy of the United states in Japan 2006, the fashion company BEAMS of Art Gallery 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2006, 2008 in Japan and he has been a member of NHK Heart Project in the international broadcasting service of NHK from 2005.
