Biography

Born in Hokkaido, Japan in 1960
Lives and works in Sapporo, Japan

Many of Satoshi Hata’s pioneering works have brought him a leading position in the field of contemporary art in Japan. He has been invited to a lot of exhibitions at the museums at home and abroad, including the Museum of Contemporary Art Shanghai, China, Ernst Barlach Museum Wedel, and Neues Museum Weserburg Bremen, Germany. Recently he has widened his field and exercises supervision over of the composite art incorporating ballet, video installation, stage design, music and contemporary dance, etc.
